What Does Your Handwriting Say About You?

Just for fun do a quick analysis of your own handwriting. Find a piece of paper and write the sentence “she sells seashells on the seashore”

Are you first to volunteer as scribe, scrambling to the boardroom flip chart, marker pen in hand, desperate to showcase your calligraphy skills? Or, do you hide your hands under the table to avoid unveiling your doctor’s prescription type-scrawl? Perhaps you’re a little more considered with your handwriting. Are you a pen analyst with an ‘oooh’ and and ‘aaah’, taking time to create a neat page of uniformed letters and words?

In truth, there is more to handwriting than what meets the eye – quite literally! In fact, there is a whole science behind handwriting. Known as graphology, it claims to be able to identify up to 5,000 personality traits depending on how you put pen to paper.

Graphology is no new revolution. It has been around in one form or another since the days of Aristotle. And whilst writing styles have changed dramatically since the early days, it still plays a role in modern society for understanding health or assisting in criminal investigations. It can also be used in some instances for screening potential employees for compatibility so it’s worth knowing what your handwriting says about you!

Consider your handwriting next to the following observations:

Size of your handwriting

Consider your handwriting next to the following observations: If your writing style has LARGE LETTERS you are considered to be people orientated and like to be noticed. Celebrities often have large handwriting suggesting this is a trait of people who like the limelight.

If your writing style has small letters you are more likely to be introspective and shy. People with small handwriting tend to have a strong focus and concentration. If your writing style is kind of average, don’t worry! You are considered well-adjusted and adaptable with good concentration skills.

Slant of your handwriting

If your handwriting slants to the right, this suggests you are gregarious and like to socialise with other people. It suggests you’re sentimental, impulsive and highly value friends and family. However, if your handwriting slants to the left, you tend to like working with things rather than people. It suggests you prefer lone working and are likely to be more reserved. If your writing doesn’t slant at all, it suggests you are a logical thinker and practical. You are guarded with your emotions and are solid and pragmatic

Your writing pressure

If you tend to apply a lot of pressure when writing this may suggest you feel emotions quite strongly and you may react quickly to situations. If you use light pressure whilst writing, this suggests you are quite flexible and don’t invest heavily in emotional situations

How loopy are you?

If your Ls are big and loopy, this may suggest you’re fairly spontaneous and relaxed with big hopes and dreams for the future. However, if your Ls are closed, you may be feeling some tension or restricting yourself in some way.

If your Es have a full loop, you tend to approach things with an open mind and enjoy trying new things. However, if your Es are closed, you are more cautious and less likely to be swayed by other people’s emotions.

If your Ss are fully rounded, you seek balance, you avoid direct confrontation and are good at compromising. If your Ss come up to a point, you are ambitious and eager to learn new things.

Space

If your handwriting is well spaced out you have a logical mind, you likely consider things carefully and can be very methodical in your approach. However, if your handwriting is close together, you tend to be very intuitive and intelligent.

This of course is not an exact science. Handwriting styles can be influenced heavily by our schooling background and genetics have a part to play also. The tools we use for the job can also play a part.
